Welcome to Galit Yovel's Lab
In our laboratory we examine the nature of the representation that the visual system generates for faces using psychophysical, electrophysiological and functional MRI methods. One of the central questions that we are interested in is "what makes upright faces special?".Some of the questions we are currently studying are:
- How does the face representation that is generated by face-selective brain regions differ from the representation that is generated by non-face selective regions?
- What is the relationship between face-selective electrophysiological and fMRI neural responses (using simultaneous ERP-fMRI recording)?
- The effect of experience on the representation of faces and their neural correlates.
- The effect of semantic information (e.g. trait) on the representation of the face.
- Do we use similar specialized mechanisms for the processing of human bodies?
